BMC Identity Management: Administering - Part 2

This course provides instruction and hands-on practice in the setup, implementation, and customization options of the Enterprise Security Station (ESS) server, CONTROL-SA® Agents, and CONTROL-SA®/Password Manager. Topics include the use of extensions to the CONTROL-SA® USA-API available through pre-and post- function script calls in the CONTROL-SA® Agents.

Administrators and System Programmers

  • Do product installation and configuration
  • Implement enhanced features, such as exits/pre-post scripts, templates/job codes, security rules, workflows and on-going maintenance of solution

Developers and System Programmers

  • Do the custom development of interfaces for applications, operating system, and databases not currently supported by the product suite and Remedy development for customer workflows and service request definitions

Set up Enterprise Security Station and Establish Connections to CONTROL-SA Agents

  • Install Enterprise Security Station server, Windows GUI, and CONTROL-SA Agents
  • Configure system connections, gateways, platforms, and RSS
  • Establish connections between Enterprise Security Station and CONTROL-

View System Architecture, Control and Database Maintenance

  • Describe the function of Enterprise Security Station components

  • including process flow, script composition, return codes, and accessing user and system fields
  • Customization options using scripts at predefined Enterprise
  • Security Station exit points

Utilize the Enterprise Security Station Batch Interface

  • Use data conversion and import utilities
  • Import command syntax and examples
  • Extract information from the Enterprise Security Station database

Use CONTROL-SA/Password Manager

  • Use Control-SA/Password Manager to reset user passwords and establish challenges
  • Customize and localize the CONTROL-SA/Password Manager interface

 

Prerequisites

BMC Identity Management:  Administering – Part 1 course

  • Basic knowledge of the functioning of the Enterprise Security Station (ESS) Console or the Enterprise Security Station  (ESS) Windows GUI
  • Recommended for exits and pre/post scripts: UNIX Shell script programming, Windows Batch programming, or TCL script  programming

Who Can Benefit:

  • Identity Management Administrators and Developers who are comfortable with the basics of the product, and are ready to delve into advanced features and customization of the product. Participants should possess a minimum of three month’s experience with the product.
